Stuart joins in Rappahannock River Easement celebration - The Journal Press

FREDERICKSBURG: Richard Stuart announced that as the State Senator from the 28th District he will spearhead conservation efforts to retain the quality of life and heritage of the region. He attended the one year anniversary celebration of the signing of Fredericksburg ' s "Rappahannock River Easement" on Saturday, June 30th. Governor Tim Kaine was the keynote speaker. This easement preserves 4,232 acres along the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers .


“This easement directly impacts the 28th District. As one who has been active in conservation efforts as a private citizen, as Senator, I will use my experience and focus on preserving open spaces while also planning for smart growth. It 's an issue that is neither Democrat nor Republican, it's American, and an issue important to all citizens of this district,” said Richard Stuart. “We owe it to our children and, if elected to the Virginia Senate, I will make it a priority to support efforts that promote good stewardship of our natural resources.”


Richard Stuart is a former Commonwealth’s Attorney for Westmoreland County and candidate for the Virginia Senate from the 28th District. He is a member of the Northern Neck Land Conservancy Advisory Board, and works pro-bono for the Virginia Outdoor Foundation as a land use lawyer for conservation easement.
